Market research firm Omdia reports that display driver IC (DDI) revenue for OLED panels is expected to reach $6.123 billion this year, but will continue to decline from next year to $4.46 billion in 2028.

According to TheElec, the report said that the new crown epidemic has led to a shortage of chips. At the same time, the penetration rate of OLED panels in the smartphone market will reach 40% in 2021, and the use of TV and IT products is also increasing. OLED DDI's revenue for the year reached $5.09 billion, a 130% increase from 2020, and the average unit price of chips rose from $2.8 to $4.7.

Omdia expects that while OLED DDI shipments will continue to increase from 1.29 billion this year to 1.761 billion in 2028, the average unit price is expected to return to the $2 range. Meanwhile, LCD DDI revenue is expected to continue to decline over the same five-year period (2023-2028), from $8.238 billion this year to $5.359 billion.
